We present a complete analysis of the Beelink BT3 Pro, a high-performance mini PC that will allow us to use it as a small computer, a small server, and even as a high-performance multimedia player in our home. The main features of the Beelink BT3 Pro are that it incorporates an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor, this processor has 4 cores at a speed of 1.44GHz, but in turbo mode we will be able to increase the frequency to 1.92GHz to achieve greater performance on time. This CPU will allow us to perform virtualization of operating systems, since it supports Intel's VT-x technology, but logically we will have the limitation of the RAM memory of the Beelink BT3 Pro itself. Another very important feature of this CPU is the incorporation of AES -NI, this will allow us to encrypt and decrypt information really quickly. Finally, this processor incorporates an Intel HD Graphics GPU inside, this will allow us to play multimedia content completely smoothly.Regarding the RAM of the Beelink BT3 Pro, it incorporates a total of 4GB of non-expandable DDR3L RAM, but it will be enough for basic use of the mini PC, logically this equipment is a small PC and not a computer that performs heavy tasks such as editing of video etc.In the Beelink BT3 Pro we have a total of 64GB of internal storage, where the operating system is pre-installed, and where we can install the programs that we want to use.In the event that this storage falls short, we can make use of the SD card slot, where we can install one of up to 128GB capacity, therefore, we believe that you will not have storage problems with this device.Regarding the physical connections of this mini PC, the first thing that we must highlight is the incorporation of a Gigabit Ethernet port for the LAN, this will allow us to transfer data up to 120MB/s speed in the local network, and be able to take advantage without limitations our fiber optic Internet connection. We also find an HDMI 2.0 port, with which we can play movies in Full HD content, in addition, we must remember that it incorporates an Intel GPU to accelerate performance to the maximum.Other ports that this Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC has are two USB 2.0 ports, a high-performance USB 3.0 port, a VGA port for connection to a monitor or projector, as well as a 3.5mm audio output.Regarding the wireless features of this Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC, we have simultaneous dual band with Wi-Fi AC600, this will allow us to connect to the wireless network at high speed, all thanks to the Wi-Fi AC standard. The antennas of this equipment are internal, and it does not allow the installation of external antennas with RP-SMA or similar connectors. We also have Bluetooth 4.0 technology, this will allow us to pair mobile devices, mice, keyboards, etc.The operating system built into this Beelink BT3 Pro is original Windows 10 Home x64, in fact, the activation is done automatically the first time we boot the mini PC.However, in this device we also have the option of installing Linux, since it is still a small computer, but the problem will be found in the compatibility of the Linux drivers for the Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth and more.Once we know all the features of the Beelink BT3 Pro, we are going to see it in its external analysis. The Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC comes in a small blue box.On the front of the box we find that it mounts a high-performance Intel processor, which supports the Windows 10 operating system, which incorporates a graphics processor in the main CPU, and which supports resolution up to 4K without any problem. This equipment is ideal for office work, photo retouching and tasks without a heavy workload. On the right side of the box we find information about what is included in the box of this mini PC, we will explain this content of the box soon.On the left side of the box we find that this mini PC is specifically oriented for office work, a basic gaming center, and also a complete multimedia player in 4K resolution. This equipment consumes very little due to its high efficiency. In this left side area we also find some precautions that we must take with the equipment, such as, for example, not removing power without turning off the operating system, not disassembling the equipment, etc.On the back of the box of this Beelink BT3 Pro we find the exact model of the equipment, and the main specifications such as the processor it incorporates, the GPU, amount of RAM and internal memory, which incorporates a Gigabit Ethernet port for the LAN, the dimensions of the equipment, the Wi-Fi AC dual band, the Bluetooth, and also the characteristics of the power adapter.Inside the box we find a small user guide for starting up the device, we will also find a small guide on how to activate this mini PC easily, since we must remember that it incorporates a totally legal Windows 10 operating system.Inside the box we will also find the Beelink BT3 Pro perfectly protected by a translucent plastic. The box content of this Beelink BT3 Pro is as follows:The current transformer of this Beelink BT3 Pro is capable of providing a voltage of 12V, and an intensity of 1.5A, enough to power all the internal components of the equipment, and the USB ports when connecting hard drives or other devices. The power connector is the typical circular connector that we find in routers, switches, etc.Inside the box we also find two HDMI cables, one of them has a very short length, ideal if we put the Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC behind the TV, and connect it via HDMI to the television itself to use it as a multimedia player.Because this mini PC can be placed behind the TV, in the box we find a bracket with its corresponding screws so that the installation is as easy as possible. Finally, in the basic operations guide we will find what each of the ports is for, and how we can connect the different external devices to the mini PC itself, ideal for basic users to know how to connect everything. On the front of the Beelink BT3 Pro we find in the central part the logo of the manufacturer itself, and in the lower part, we find some of its main features, such as that we can easily extend the screen, it is compatible with the 5GHz band with Wi-Fi. Fi AC600, has a 1000Mbps (Gigabit) port, and inside we find an Intel heart. On the right side of the mini PC we have a slot for SD cards of up to 128GB capacity, to expand the internal storage easily and quickly. In this area we also find two USB 2.0 ports to connect a keyboard, mice and other types of peripherals. On the left side of the mini PC we have a VGA port to connect it to an external monitor, projector or a TV if it has this type of old connector. On the back of the mini PC is where we find the Beelink BT3 Pro on/off button. We also find the power connector, the high-performance USB 3.0 port, the HDMI port with resolution up to 4K, the Gigabit Ethernet port for LAN and finally the 3.5mm jack output. So far we have arrived with our external analysis of the Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC, now we are going to check the performance that this equipment is capable of providing in our test laboratory. In this test laboratory we have verified the performance of the Beelink BT3 Pro with several benchmark programs, we have also verified the performance of the Gigabit Ethernet port, the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, how it behaves when playing video in Full HD resolution and also 4K, and other interesting tests such as internal storage read/write.CPU-Z is a program that allows us to know all the details of the main processor of the mini PC, likewise, it also allows us to know the characteristics of the RAM memory, etc.In the following photo gallery you can see in detail all these parameters of the mini PC:If we benchmark CPU-Z itself, what we get is 69.7 points in "Single Thread CPU", and 249 points in "Multi Thread" using its four cores.Once we have seen all the information with CPU-Z, we will see how it behaves with other benchmarks.PCMark 10 and 3DMark are two well-known benchmarks in the hardware world, below, you can see the results obtained by both programs. In PCMark10 we get a total of 901 points:In the 3DMark we have executed different benchmarks, those of the lowest category since this mini PC is not a gaming PC, much less, for this reason, we have not executed all of them, in addition, some of them cannot be executed due to lack of RAM memory in the GPU .The benchmarks we have run are Ice Storm, Ice Storm Extreme, Cloud Gate and Sky Driver. Finally, we have run the Cinebench benchmark, the result we have obtained with this mini PC is:AIDA64 is one of the best-known programs to examine each and every one of the hardware components of a computer, and it will also help us to carry out reading benchmarks from the disk.In the following images, you can see in detail all the values that we have achieved in the different sequential and random reading tests of the internal disk.Related to disk reading and writing performance, we have also launched a test with CrystalDiskMark to check sequential, random, etc. reading and writing.Next, you have the results obtained:With AIDA64 we have also performed a benchmark on RAM and cache memory, then we leave you the results obtained:We have done the same with the GPU, we have also carried out the typical benchmark to check the power of the graphics card incorporated into the Intel CPU:We have also proceeded to carry out a stability test, where we have put the equipment to the maximum, squeezing its performance to the maximum, and also its temperature. This equipment has arrived after almost 13 minutes at a temperature of 75ºC.Below, you can see the two graphs with the CPU usage and the temperature reached:So far we have arrived with the synthetic benchmarks to check the power and stability of this mini PC, now we are going to see the performance in the LAN, Wi-Fi and USB ports. This mini PC incorporates a Gigabit Ethernet port for the LAN, which we have squeezed to the maximum with 100 concurrent TCP connections to see what it gives. In this test we have obtained a performance of 113MB/s, an excellent performance, and we already expected this speed. As you can see, all TCP threads are transmitted at the same speed, synonymous with stability. An important detail is that the CPU is set to 100% when we are performing the test, meaning that it is giving everything to provide the best possible performance. If we increase the number of simultaneous connections to 250 TCP threads, we can see the speed drop and we get 102MB/s, but we still have exceptional performance. If we increase the number of threads to 500 TCP threads, we see that the equipment does not give more of itself and we only obtain 25MB/s.Normally we will never have this number of concurrent TCP threads using the local network or the Internet, but we must bear in mind that the CPU load increases considerably when stressing this equipment to the maximum. So far we have arrived with the performance obtained in the LAN.Under normal circumstances we will have no problem transferring multiple files over the local network. That yes, if we do a speed test, and the web is in HTML5, we will not obtain more than 250Mbps download and upload, since the CPU does not give more than itself. We have verified that this only occurs in Windows 10, since, if we put an Ubuntu Live CD, we do obtain the maximum speed, but it is due to the resource of the mini PC.This mini PC incorporates a built-in Wi-Fi card from the manufacturer Broadcom, its fundamental characteristic is that it is Wi-Fi AC600.In the 2.4GHz band we can get up to 150Mbps of speed, all thanks to Wi-Fi N. In the 5GHz band we can get up to 433Mbps of speed, thanks to Wi-Fi AC.At RedesZone we have tried to put this mini PC in the same locations where we always carry out all the analyzes of Wi-Fi routers, access points and PLCs with Wi-Fi.The speed and coverage achieved by this mini PC is quite poor.If we are going to use this mini PC in the same room, or in the next room where we have the main router, then we can use the internal Wi-Fi without any problem, since we will achieve a speed of about 100Mbps if we use Wi-Fi AC .If you are going to be very far from the AP, forget about getting a good speed or coverage, the best thing you can do is buy an external USB Wi-Fi adapter, and connect it via USB 3.0 or USB 2.0.This Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC also incorporates a USB 3.0 port, and another USB 2.0 port.At RedesZone we have checked the read and write speed, taking the internal drive of the mini PC as the source/destination, and performing the tests with a 3.5” hard drive connected to a USB 3.0 dock.USB 3.0 tests in NTFS file format:USB 2.0 tests in NTFS file format:As you can see, the speed of USB is outstanding, we will be able to transfer data at high speed, both using the USB 2.0 port and the USB 3.0 port.Movie playback in Full HD resolution has been excellent in every way.Playback speed, fast forward and without a single stop or slowdown. We have carried out this test both by reading the MKV from the internal disk, as well as through a DLNA server using KODI.We have also tried to play it through Samba with VLC and we have not had any kind of problem. In 4K resolution using the H.265 video codec we have not been able to play a movie correctly.Although we try to play it with VLC or Kodi, the CPU of the mini PC is set to 100% and it is not able to play it without cuts, in fact, KODI tells us that the source is too slow, and that is that the CPU does not give more than Yes.If we play a movie in Full HD, as you can see, the computer's CPU does not work at 100%:So that you can see how the mini PC is saturated, when trying to play a 4K movie again with VLC, the screen is black and the CPU is at 100% work continuously:If you want a device to play 4K content, we definitely recommend the Xiaomi Mi TV Box 4K, a device that is capable of playing content smoothly in any circumstance. So far we have arrived with all the tests carried out on this Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC.The operating system that this Beelink BT3 Pro incorporates is the same Windows 10 Home x64 that we all know, and that we have on any laptop or desktop computer. When we start this mini PC for the first time, we will see a small wizard that will guide us in configuring the language, region where we are, the keyboard layout and if we want to add a second keyboard layout.Once we accept the license agreement, Windows itself will search for updates as long as we have connected the mini PC to the local network.Windows 10 itself will update itself, we will not have to do anything in this process, in fact, it will allow us to use the operating system normally while it is updated. In this way, while the update is downloaded and installed, we will be able to browse the Internet and do other tasks, although we recommend that you leave the device to update without doing anything.Something that we did not like is the time it takes to update. It has taken us more than 6 hours to update, and we are not exaggerating. If you are going to buy this mini PC, we recommend that you put it to update at night and that it is updated all night, so that the next day everything is done.Once the version of Windows 10 is updated, you will have to install more updates, but in this case the time it takes is more normal, it can take about an hour.As for the functions of the Windows 10 operating system, everything will work perfectly, both Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Gigabit port, HDMI, etc.We tell you this, because if we decide to install a Linux, Wi-Fi will not work for example due to lack of drivers. This mini PC is made to run Windows 10, and if you're going to install another operating system, we're afraid you'll have to struggle to find and install the right drivers. If you need to format the operating system, or load another operating system such as Ubuntu, we have the possibility of entering the computer's BIOS, and configuring its boot. The options built into the BIOS are not very extensive, but it has what it takes to boot from multiple sources.Below, you can see all the BIOS menus:So far we have arrived with our analysis of the Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC, now we are going to list the strengths, weaknesses and finally we will obtain some conclusions. This Beelink BT3 Pro mini PC that we have analyzed has behaved very well when the tests carried out are basic, that is, web browsing, office automation work, basic image retouching, file transfer on a local network, movie playback in Full resolution HD etcThe CPU that this mini PC incorporates is quite limited, if you are going to try to carry out multiple heavy tasks it will take too long and will be continuously at 100%, harming the rest of the actions that we are carrying out.The Windows 10 operating system has behaved perfectly at all times, all the menus work very smoothly, and consuming only 2GB of RAM of the 4GB of RAM that it incorporates. The only downside is that the first Windows 10 update took several hours, but that aside, Windows 10 runs flawlessly on this PC.This equipment is not designed to perform video editing, nor play content in 4K resolution, since we have verified that it is not capable of doing so.If you want a mini PC to easily play 4K content on your TV, we recommend you to buy the Xiaomi Mi TV Box 4K which works fantastic.Another negative aspect is the Wi-Fi, we did not expect to obtain a great speed either, but we have verified that the coverage of the 5GHz band is very limited, and that is that we have only been able to connect in the next room. The 2.4GHz band allows us a better coverage, but a really low speed. If you are going to use this mini PC via Wi-Fi because you do not have the possibility to connect it via cable, buy a Wi-Fi adapter because you will appreciate it.As for the price of this Beelink BT3 Pro, we can find it for around 130 euros in stores like Gearbest, a good price considering its hardware and the performance obtained on the test bench. If we take into account the features, the performance achieved by this mini PC, and its price, RedesZone's assessment is 8/10.We hope you liked the analysis, if you have any questions you can leave us a comment and we will be happy to answer.
