More than 20 years ago, I bought my first pair of wireless headphones in the days before Bluetooth technology was widespread. The headphones I bought used FM wireless to transmit audio and it could be a bit hit and miss in terms of clarity and tuning.

The headphones I had were made by Sennheiser and came with a base station that doubled as a charging stand. Compared with what else was on the market at the time, the Sennheisers were way ahead of the pack and I used them to watch TV late at night without waking the rest of the house.

Fast forward two decades and Sennheiser is still selling a version of those wireless headphones I bought at the turn of the century.
